The guy behind the camera

Hey, I’m Kurtis.
I like fixing things.

I make DirtyKurty videos to help people understand their cars and feel more comfortable working on them. I film the repairs I’m doing, the problems that come up, and what it takes to get things working again.

Why I make these videosA repair is a lot less intimidating when you can see someone work through it on a real car.
Diagnose before guessingI like figuring out why something failed, not just swapping parts and hoping for the best.
Real work, not magic shortcutsSome jobs go smoothly. Others take a few attempts. Both can teach you something.
It’s your turn nextIf one of my videos helps you understand a repair or take on a job yourself, it did its job.

What you’ll find here

Cars, questions, and plenty of learning along the way.

I’ve spent a lot of time working on BMWs, but they aren’t the only thing that ends up in front of my camera. There are Toyotas, project cars, occasional trucks, and whatever else has me turning wrenches.

My background is in electrical engineering, so I tend to get curious about why something went wrong. That shows up in the diagnostics as much as the mechanical work. I don’t always have the answer right away, and I’m fine showing the process of getting there.

Some videos are proper repair walkthroughs. Some are shorter fixes, tests, or project updates. I’ll tell you what each one covers so you can decide whether it’ll help with your own car.
